States in India

Politically, India is a federal union of states comprising twenty seven  states and eight “union territories”. For business people from overseas, it is important to be aware that there are significant differences in doing business among the various states: language, culture, industries, religious mix, food habits, ethnicity are some of the variables. Economically, some states are much stronger than others.
