In an effort to catch Mizoram up with its neighbors the government has actively promoted Zoram Industrial Development Corporation (ZIDCO), Mizoram Khadi and Village Industry Board (MKVIB), Zoram Handloom and Handicraft Corporation Limited (ZOHANCO), Mizoram Food and Allied Industries Corporation Limited (MIFCO), and Zoram Electronics Development Corporation (ZENICS). Around 60 percent of the population is involved with agriculture. Important crops are paddy, maize, soyabean, mustard, pulses, sugarcane, chilli, ginger, tobacco, potato, banana, and pineapple.
Tourism
Mizoram attracts many people because of its beautiful landscape and nice climate. Some places to visit are Tam Dil, a lake and Vantawng Falls, which considered the highest and most beautiful waterfall in Mizoram. Mizoram has many festivals which are oriented around agriculture. Some of the festivals are Chapchar Kut, Mim Kut, and Thalfavang Kut.
