Client Challenge
R&D executives at a European company were being pressured to develop green/natural/herbal alternatives to their recently acquired synthetic product, which was a market leader. Internal efforts to identify a solution which matched efficacy and did not increase price by over 40 percent had failed to find results. The client wanted to search globally in case a solution had been missed.
Amritt-Client Process
Working with the head of open innovation, Amritt developed a tree of possible solutions and boundary conditions. The search included examining papers in English and regional languages, visiting herbal/natural experts as well as national labs, looking for brands in China and India who made similar or complementary products and talking to their heads of R&D for co-development possibilities and checking for solutions already on the market.
Impact
Amritt findings helped the client to conclude that there was no promising possibility of an alternative that met the client needs in terms of efficacy and one that could be backed by science.
