Client Challenge
The R&D and supply chain executives at a mid-sized global private company were stymied since a key plastic precursor for a new product introduction was not readily available in production quantities from the company that supplied the material during the engineering and prototyping process.
Amritt-Client Process
After understanding the client’s needs in detail, Amritt’s in-house chemical staff undertook a search across Korea, China, and India to locate and evaluate suppliers who either manufactured this product or could adapt their process cost-effectively to do so. The client was keen to keep their identity cloaked from all but the final approved supplier.
Impact
After a multistage evaluation process, the top suppliers in two countries were identified and qualified. The client chose to focus entirely on one of those countries and Amritt delivered a sample product to the client that met client needs. As a side benefit, the client reduced production cost by over 50 percent versus target.
