Alstom, in consortium with India’s BHEL, has secured a contract from the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL) to supply turbine generator package for its Rajasthan Atomic Power Project (RAPP) units 7 & 8, located at Rawatbhata in Rajasthan. Alstom’s share in the total consortium contract is $100 million.
According to the Economic Times, this contract marks Alstom’s growing contribution in the nuclear energy business in India after the award of the contract for two 700 MW units for the Kakrapar 3 and 4 nuclear power plant in Gujarat last year. The first contract that Alstom executed for NPCIL was for Rajasthan unit 1 in 1973.
