In their India Diaper Market Overview, Research and Markets reports that Proctor and Gamble’s Pampers dominates the overall diaper industry, followed by Kimberly Clark’s Huggies and Mamy Poko. These three diaper brands constitute more than 85% of the market by value. Baby diapers constitute the leading category in the market, while the adult diapers market is expected to grow significantly due to the increasing healthcare standards in the country.
Disposable diapers constitute the largest market share and are seeing increasing investments by manufacturers in their research and development. In recent years cloth diapers have become a fast moving trend worldwide for families looking for an eco-friendly way to diaper their babies. Sales of cloth diapers were 140,000 units in 2014 and this figure is expected to increase owing to environmental benefits. Other type of diapers includes swim pants and training pants which has a marginal market share in India, reports BusinessWire.
The report also said that India’s diaper market was growing with a CAGR of 22% over the past five years. In 2014, the market for baby diapers in urban India grew with a CAGR of 20% whereas in rural India the growth was much higher than in the urban areas.
