Finland-based telecom company Nokia, announced a collaboration with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore to set up a Center of Excellence (CoE) in India. The CoE will facilitate research in networked robotics, and Nokia will fund it for three consecutive years to sustain the first phase of the partnership.
IISc will host a robotics laboratory to conduct advanced research projects involving designing next-generation networks, and applications of Artificial Intelligence. It will provide its expertise in algorithms, drones and robotic systems, along with faculty and other resources.

Nokia will share its expertise in next-generation network innovations and leverage Nokia Bell Labs’ technical expertise in robot orchestration, robot network controller, and human-robot interaction to aid research and development of the end-to-end use case technology solutions.
Nishant Batra, Chief Strategy and Technology Officer at Nokia, said, “We want India to drive global innovation in an era of convergence where a few years from now, extended reality and digital-physical fusion will allow us to create, collaborate, and communicate in unprecedented ways.”
