India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Vanijya Bhawan, the new premises of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Constructed near New Delhi’s India Gate, the Vanijya Bhawan is designed as a smart building that incorporates the principles of sustainable architecture with a special focus on energy saving. It will serve as an integrated and modern office complex that will be used by the two Departments under the Ministry: Department of Commerce, and Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade.

Modi also launched a new portal called NIRYAT, — an acronym for National Import-Export Record for Yearly Analysis of Trade — a one-stop platform for stakeholders to get all necessary information related to India’s foreign trade. Real-time information related to more than 30 commodity groups exported to more than 200 countries of the world will be available on this portal.
This Portal is committed to analyzing India’s imports and exports in a comprehensive manner. Its primary mission is to act as a guide and mentor to the next generation of entrepreneurs entering the field of international trade. According to the government’s plans, the NIRYAT portal will strengthen India’s financial sector in a way that is in line with the country’s focus on the 3Ts: trade, tourism, and technology.
Speaking on the occasion, Modi reiterated that government had removed over 32,000 non-essential compliance requirements to promote ‘Ease of Doing Business’ in the country. “Despite global disruptions last year, India exported a total of $670 billion. Exports are vital to a country’s progress,” the prime minister added.
