State-owned defense contractor Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) will provide the Indian Navy and Mumbai-based Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited with complementary Naval MRSAM or Medium Range Surface-to-Air Missile systems worth $50 million. The deal is a follow up order for a range of maintenance and other services for various sub-systems of IAI’s advanced MSRAM air defense systems.
MRSAM provides broad as well as topical defense against a range of assault such as air, marine, and ground threats. It comprises several key systems, including a digital radar, command and control, launchers, and interceptors with advanced homing seekers.
Boaz Levi, executive vice president and general manager of Systems, Missiles & Space Group at IAI described the deal as a major “breakthrough” and added that it reflects the “strong relationship” between IAI and Indian Navy.
