Sunnyvale, CA- based Intuitive, maker of minimally invasive care and robotic-assisted surgery, inaugurated its Global Capability Center in Bangalore, India. The facility, aims to drive innovation and enhance operational efficiency across the organization. The center was inaugurated by Intuitive’s CEO Gary S. Guthart and Dr. Patil, the Minister for Medical Education, Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, and Livelihood, Government of the state of Karnataka.

The GCC will serve as a core hub for Intuitive, supporting global operations in various areas including IT, enterprise analytics, software quality, human resource management systems, and post-market surveillance.
At the inauguration, Dr. Patil emphasized the importance of robotics in the future of surgery and expressed the government’s commitment to supporting such innovations. He highlighted the potential for training more doctors in India, which already produces top-tier medical professionals globally. Gary S. Guthart reiterated Intuitive’s commitment to building a strong presence in India and contributing to the growth of the healthcare ecosystem.
The GCC is expected to employ over 250 full-time staff across various functions, including product upgrades, quality improvement, and customer service.
Darla Hutton, vice president of Commercial Operations and Marketing Asia, & Interim General Manager India at Intuitive, emphasized that the GCC’s establishment in Bangalore goes beyond expanding operations. The city’s vibrant technology development scene and skilled talent pool make it an ideal location for the GCC, Hutton added.
Intuitive has already made significant strides in advancing minimally invasive care in India through its robotic technology, which is present in private and government hospitals, medical institutes, and state medical colleges. To date, over 850 surgeons have been trained in Intuitive’s da Vinci technology, with more than 100,000 procedures performed in India.
