India's Aurobindo Pharma Buys Injectables Assets from Spectrum Pharmaceuticals.

Hyderabad, India-based Aurobindo Pharma will acquire seven branded oncology injectables from Henderson, Nevada-based Spectrum Pharmaceuticals Inc., for about $300 million. Acrotech Biopharma LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Aurobindo Pharma USA Inc., will acquire the assets. The transaction is expected to close within 90 days.

The acquisition involves an upfront payment of $160 million in cash, plus up to $140 million on achieving regulatory and sales-based milestones, This acquisition will help the company enter the branded oncology market. Aurobindo’s portfolio is spread over major therapeutic areas such as antibiotics, anti-retrovirals, systemic gastro-enterologicals, anti-allergies and anti-diabetics. The U.S. and Europe account for over 70% of Aurobindo’s $2.6 billion global sales yearly.
