Researchers from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (now known as Chennai), will collaborate with experts from leading biotechnology firms and Google-funded startups in South San Francisco city.
Dr. Pradeep Gupta, IITM alumnus and mayor of South San Francisco for 2017, will facilitate the collaboration between the Healthcare Technology Innovation Center, a multidisciplinary research and development center at IIT-M, and life sciences firms in South San Francisco involved in research in disciplines ranging from oncology to neuro-degenerative diseases. The collaboration will span three categories of companies and the university — startups, mid-sized companies looking to outsource R&D projects, and bigger companies which require a fresh pipeline of drugs and technology.
The head of the Healthcare Technology Innovation Center at IIT-M, Dr. Mohanasankar Sivaprakasam, said the center is looking forward to the collaboration specifically in the medical devices and technology space.
