IBM has started discussions with Indian companies, along with Indian telecom service providers to help them define their 5G strategy and build IBM’s capabilities around the new technology.
Archana Vemulapalli, general manager, Network Services and IS Project & Implementation Services, IBM Global Technology Services, said that IBM’s big focus is on 5G infrastructure since the amount of data will increase and will become more complex for enterprises, therefore their infrastructure needs to be ready.
IBM is also working with Indian companies to develop services around 5G. Vemulapalli said that verticals such as healthcare, automotive, heavy industries and companies working in the Internet of Things domain are looking to transform their networks. The technology offers network slicing capability which will help in generating additional revenue streams for operators.
