CARE Hospitals, Hyderabad, successfully performed a hysterectomy on a 46-year-old female with an enlarged uterus using Medtronic’s Hugo™ robotic-assisted surgery (RAS) system. This is the first of its kind gynecological procedure in Asia Pacific.
The CARE Hospitals Group, is an asset of San Francisco headquartered private equity firm TPG Growth which manages Evercare Fund, and India Medtronic Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Medtronic plc.
The surgery was led by Dr Manjula Anagani who said, “We look forward to using this innovative robotic system to expand access to the powerful benefits of minimally invasive surgery to more patients.”
Dr Nikhil Mathur, Chief of Medical Services at the CARE Group noted that the robotic system surgery would be offered to patients looking for treatment under General Surgery, Urology, Gynecology and more.
