GE Power India Ltd., was awarded one contract worth over $45 million by state-owned NTPC Limited, India’s largest power utility, for installing a Flue Gas Desulphurization (FGD) system at Phase-I of NTPC’s Super Thermal Power Project in the southern state of Telangana.
According to the emission norms for controlling sulfur oxides, issued by the Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change in December 2015, installing FGD technology has become mandatory for all thermal power plants in India.
The second contract for over $35 million was also awarded to GE Power by New Delhi-based NTPC for upgrading three 660MW super critical steam generators at Barh Stage-I in India’s northern state of Bihar. These generators are the primary super heater, the convection super heater and the low-pressure re-heater.
