Celebrating twenty years of their strategic partnership, India and France vowed to strengthen their bilateral strategic partnership through:
- Cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region
- Training and joint exercises in defense
- Strengthening relations in the space sector
- Investment in urban development and the digital economy
- Exchange of 10,000 students by 2020
Bilateral trade between the two countries was $11 billion in 2017, and both countries want to reach close to $17 billion by 2022.

The land acquisition process for the proposed Evolutionary Power Reactor nuclear power plant in Jaitapur, 370 miles south of Mumbai, has been completed. This project is a partnership between India’s Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited and Electrice de France. It will have six reactors, each of which has a capacity of 1650 MW. India aims to generate 40 percent of its electricity by non-fossil fuels by 2030.
