Cupertino, CA-based Apple has started to export iPhones to some European markets from India; the total number of iPhone 6 and iPhone 7 models exported so far to Europe are about 100,000 units a month.
Initially, Apple’s vendor set up iPhone manufacturing in India to avoid import taxes and allow the company to be more price-competitive in the Indian smartphone market. Advancing from local sales to exports is a big step in terms of solidifying India as a manufacturing base.

Production of the iPhone 11 from Foxconn in India is likely to reach 250,000 units per month, and nearly 75% of that number will be exported to other markets.
India is set to ease sourcing norms, which will speed up Apple’s plans to set up their own stores and have a greater retail presence in a country where the average selling price of devices is slowly moving up.
