Franklin Lakes, NJ-headquartered Becton, Dickinson, and Company (BD) introduced the BD Vacutainer UltraTouch Push Button Blood Collection Set in India. This new product aims to reduce patient discomfort and improve success rates in blood collection.

The company claims that key features include:

1. BD RightGauge technology: Allows use of a thinner needle
2. BD PentaPoint Technology: Decreases insertion pain
3. BD Push Button Technology: Reduces needle injury risk by 88%

The product is designed to improve patient experience, potentially reduce needle phobia, and contribute to overall patient satisfaction. Atul Grover, managing director of BD India/South Asia, emphasized the company’s commitment to advancing healthcare in India

With this technolology the company hopes to  reduce needle phobia associated with first time blood collection. This is important in India as the goverment funded plans starts to cover hundreds of millions of poor patients who have had very limited choices for medical care.
