Tourists visiting the Taj Mahal or Red Fort in India, will no longer need to wait in long lines for tickets. The Archaeological Survey of India, part of India’s culture ministry that maintains and manages the country’s national museums and heritage sites, has contracted with ticketing website BookMyShow, and online travel agency Yatra.com, to facilitate booking tickets online for 141 monuments, museums, and historic sitesinlcluding the Taj.
In 2016, over 42 million tourists visited the 115 federally protected ticketed monuments across India, according to data from the ministry of tourism.
