Geneva, Switzerland-headquartered Alcon launched its Clareon Family of advanced intraocular lenses (IOLs) in India. This represents Alcon’s most advanced IOL material according to the company. The Clareon platform will be available in two presbyopia-correcting IOL technologies in India – the Clareon PanOptix and Clareon Vivity.
The Clareon PanOptix Trifocal IOL offers spectacle independence across all distances. It has been implanted over 2.2 million times globally, making it the most widely implanted trifocal IOL worldwide. It aims to provide 20/20 vision at distance, intermediate, and near ranges, with continuous vision of 20/25 or better.
The Clareon Vivity IOL uses wavefront-shaping X-WAVE technology to extend vision range. It is designed to simplify the presbyopia-correcting experience for surgeons and patients while delivering monofocal-like visual experience.
Amar Vyas, Country Head of Alcon India, expressed pride in offering the latest IOL technology in India. He highlighted that Clareon builds on Alcon’s legacy of IOL innovation through robust R&D efforts in material science, advanced manufacturing, and novel delivery systems, representing their most advanced platform to date for exceptional, lasting clarity.
The Clareon IOLs are inserted using the next-generation, reusable Clareon Monarch IV Delivery System. The Clareon portfolio leverages many of the same design characteristics and optics as Alcon’s leading IOLs to help deliver the visual outcomes surgeons expect.
