2. Tamil Nadu
The Result: Actor-turned-politician Vijay‘s newly formed party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), emerged as the single largest party in its debut election. TVK won 65 seats and was leading in 43 others out of 234 total constituencies.

Vijay leveraged his massive network of film clubs to build a grassroots supporter base.
The verdict has significantly disrupted the traditional power dynamics between the two major Dravidian parties (DMK and AIADMK).

Background: Historically, Tamil Nadu politics has been a bipolar contest between the DMK and AIADMK for over five decades. The 2021 election saw M.K. Stalin (DMK) take power after a decade of AIADMK rule.
3. Kerala
The Result: The Congress-led UDF returned to power with a commanding mandate, winning 102 out of 140 seats. The Indian National Congress (INC) was the single largest party in the alliance with 63 seats.
Key Highlights:
The mandate is being described as a “UDF tsunami,” surpassing the alliance’s previous record of 99 seats in 2001.
The BJP achieved a breakthrough by securing three seats, its best performance in the state to date.
Background: Kerala traditionally alternates power every five years between the UDF and the LDF (Left Democratic Front). However, in 2021, the LDF under Pinarayi Vijayan broke this trend by winning two consecutive terms. The 2026 result signals a return to the alternating pattern.
