Vietnamese handset brand Mobiistar is set to enter the Indian smartphone market end May, and has decided to make India its global headquarters.
Carl Ngo, Group CEO at Mobiistar said, “After looking at the number and size of the country and growth, I have decided to be based here. The idea is to run global operations by [being] based out of here. I am here full time.”
In India, the company has partnered with contract manufacturer V-Sun Technologies to assemble handsets, and aims to launch products specially made for the Indian market. For R&D, it has formed partnerships with chipset vendors and design houses in India. The brand will initially have up to 850 service outlets, which it will increase to 1,000 outlets after three months.
