Sources at India’s army headquarters told dna that the computer-driven Command Post Exercises or CPX which involve the participation by command, staff, and communication personnel will be pivotal to the upcoming India-U.S. joint Army exercise between 14-27 September at Indian Army’s Chaubatia military station in Ranikhet, in the northern state of Uttarakhand. Simulated CPXs are considered a high quality training tool because of their realistic combat scenarios.
Since India wants to produce its own CPX from 2018 onward, it has requested the U.S. contingent “for sharing of simulation and exercise design“.
Codenamed Yudh Abhyas (War Studies) – 2016, this is an annual exercise between the two armies and will be the first military engagement between the two countries’ contingents (belonging to infantry division) after both the U.S. and India signed the Logistics Exchange Memorandum of Agreement recently.
