U.S. Wants 15,000 Students to Go to India

The U.S. is looking to triple the number of American students  going to India for higher studies in the next five years to 15,000 according to India West

As of right now more than 100,000 Indian students visit the U.S. to study every year, but only 4,300 American students went to study in India in 2011-2012. To increase the number, the US government and the Indian government are working to streamline the education visa process, which is one of the key reasons for why so few American students go to India.

In addition, the Obama administration has launched a “Passport to India” initiative to send more Americans to India. Passport to India now has ten partnerships with companies such as Honeywell, United Airlines, and Citigroup, which have aided in sending hundreds of Americans to India.
