The hottest peppers in the world, from India

The Bhut Jolokia a species of peppers that grows in the far-northeastern Indian state of Nagaland, is widely accepted as the among hottest chili peppers in the world, also known as the Naga King Chili.

The Smithsonian Magazine carries a beautiful article where four tourists are part of a 12 person pepper eating competition held a few months ago in Nagaland. It also outlines the science of what happens when we consume a very hot chili pepper.  Enjoy by clicking here.
