With 100 exclusive outlets in India, that are company-owned as well as franchises, California-based Skechers is looking at opening up to 400 more such outlets within 5 years. It will also launch apparel and accessories by the middle of 2018.
Rahul Vira, chief executive for Skechers, South Asia, said,”We are growing at the rate of 100 percent year-on-year. In the first half of this year, we have already done sales of $50 million. We are looking at closing the year with sales of $85 million.
Currently, the company imports all its products. When asked if the company will manufacture locally in the near future Vira said, “Once we reach a certain scale and size, the company will look at options for manufacturing locally,” reports Money Control.
