Royal Dutch Shell plc that changed its name to Shell plc in January 2022, employs more than 11,000 people in India spread across a diverse range of businesses – hardcore technology in the wet and dry lab research centers, as well as gas, power, mobility, and lubricants. The company is now looking to expand its footprint in India in the electric mobility and renewable energy segments. It plans to set up more than 10,000 charging points across India by 2030.
Shell will continue to add to its employees in India over this year in areas such as information data technology, finance operations, data science and business development with its principles of inclusion at the core, said Pratibha Priyadarshini, VP and head of HR.

“We also made a $1.55 billion acquisition of Sprng Energy, a renewable power company based in Pune. These actions were [done] with the aim of becoming a net – zero emissions energy business by 2050,” added Priyadarshini.
The company has moved its focus beyond oil and gas, and reservoir engineering and geosciences to energy transition such as low carbon fuels, nature-based solutions and circularity. As it transits to Net – Zero a whole niche of skills is required. The company is upskilling and looking to widen talent pools. The firm has rolled out re-entry programs to arrest attrition, and has made job descriptions gender-neutral.
