Priyanka Chopra Jonas has been named to the National Geographic 33 list, a prestigious group of global changemakers that includes figures such as Harrison Ford and Ewan McGregor. The actress is being recognized for her mission to address the type 1 diabetes crisis in India, a country currently home to over 100 million people living with the disease and the world’s highest number of cases among children.
As a board member of the nonprofit Beyond Type 1, founded by her husband, Nick Jonas, Chopra Jonas is focused on two primary goals:
Promoting Early Detection: Her social media advocacy has already reached millions, driving an education campaign aimed at encouraging early diagnosis.
Removing Social Stigma: She is working to shift public perception, reassuring the South Asian community that a diabetes diagnosis is manageable. Her message is clear: with the right care, patients can “actually thrive.”

The initiative has deployed nearly 200 ambassadors across India to champion the cause.
