President Donald Trump, accompanied by wife Melania Trump and three cabinet members, will arrive in Ahmedabad at noon on Monday, February 24 for 36-hour-long trip. As of this moment,the three secretaries will be Steve Mnuchin of Treasury, Wilbur Ross of Commerce and Dan Brouillette who recently took over the Energy Department. Presidential son-in-law Jared Kushner may also join the team.

In Ahmedabad, President Trump will address the ‘Namaste Trump’ event jointly with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the newly built Motera cricket stadium, with a capacity of 100,000 reportedly the largest cricket stadium in the world. India’s Foreign Secretary Harsh Shringla (the former Indian Ambassador to the United States), said Trump and Modi would address a full-capacity audience, which would include people from different parts of India reflecting the diversity of the country.
The President and the First Lady will then fly to Agra and spend sunset at the Taj Mahal before going to Delhi for the night. They are likely to stay at the ITC Maurya Hotel, which has hosted Clinton, Bush and Obama earlier. The India expert’s favorite restaurant, Dampukht, is at this hotel (But American President’s have usually eaten at Khyber, which serves Afghani food).
Next day, there will be a ceremonial welcome at the forecourt of the Rashtrapati Bhavan and the mandatory visit to Rajghat to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi.
Finally there will be restricted and delegation-level talks between Trump and Modi at Hyderabad House. “The talks will be comprehensive and cover issues relating to our strategic partnership in areas of defence, security, counter-terrorism, as well as trade, energy, people-to-people exchanges and other bilateral matters,” Shringla said. Prime Minister Modi will host lunch after the talks.
In the afternoon, Trump is expected to attend private events at the U.S. Embassy, including a round table with industry representatives. In the evening, the US president will meet with President Ram Nath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhavan before leaving India.
