Prime Minister Modi has accepted French President Emmanuel Macron‘s invitation to be the guest of honor at France’s traditional military parade held during Bastille day, on July 14th, the French presidency said.

“An Indian armed forces contingent will take part in the parade alongside French forces.” the presidency noted, adding that Modi’s visit will coincide with the 25th anniversary of the “strategic partnership” between France and India.
This historic visit will also deliberate on joint initiatives, such as climate change, loss of biodiversity and the achievement of sustainable development targets.
India and France share a close alliance based on their common interests in combating terrorism and ensuring security in the Indo-Pacific region. The two countries enjoy deep political ties, to the extent that France refrains from providing weapons or platforms to India’s adversaries in the northern and western neighborhoods.
France has offered to co-develop and manufacture high-thrust engines in India for the future twin-engine combat aircraft developed by India’s Defense Research and Development Organization.
France has expressed willingness to build Scorpene submarines for other countries at Mumbai’s Mazagon Dockyards Limited to prevent the current facility from stagnating due to a lack of orders, as it has successfully completed the Kalvari-class submarines under Project 75.
Additionally the French have proposed manufacturing high-end missiles and loitering ammunitions in India. Loitering ammunition are a hybrid of a drone and a bomb. These are disposable vehicles that conduct reconnaissance and destroy detected targets with the help of a warhead integrated into the design. An important feature of these devices is their relatively low cost.
