Passenger vehicle sales in India rose 26% in September

Wholesales of passenger vehicles in India rose by 26.45% to 272,027 units in September as compared to 215,124 units in the same month last year according to Society of Indian Car Manufacturers (SIAM)

Two-wheeler sales also rose 11.64% to 1,849,546 units, compared with 1,656,658 units in the same month last year. Compared to 1,043,621 units in September 2019, motorcycle sales were 1.224,117 units, up 17.3%.

Scooter sales were also slightly up from 555,754 units in the same month last year, at 556,205 units. In the July-September 2020 quarter, sales of passenger vehicles increased 17.02% from 620,620 units in the same period of the last fiscal year to 726,232 units.

During the September quarter of this fiscal year, two-wheeler sales increased marginally to 4,690,565 units, compared with 4,682,571 units in the same period last fiscal year.
