Governor Greg Abbott of Texas returned from a productive economic development mission to India organized by the Governor’s Economic Development & Tourism Office and the Texas Economic Development Corporation. The Texas delegation also included business and economic development leaders from across the state, representing more than 16 companies, communities, and economic development organizations.
This was Abbott’s second trip to India. The goal was to promote Texas’ strong economy, encourage continued trade, job creation, and investment by Indian companies in Texas, and strengthen the ongoing partnership between India and Texas.

Abbott said “This mission has strengthened our understanding of the deep cultural values that Texans and the Indian people share. We both want a brighter, more prosperous future for our children and grandchildren. Texas remains the most popular U.S. destination for Indian foreign direct investment and job creation, and I am confident this enduring bond and collaboration will continue for years to come.”
On the first day, Abbott and the Texas delegation met with executives from major Indian companies such as Infosys, Reliance Industries, Tata Consultancy Services, and Wipro. They discussed expanding these companies’ presence in Texas. The executives also highlighted their philanthropy efforts. Abbott showcased Texas as a global leader in tech, energy, aerospace, manufacturing and touted the state’s investments in a skilled, diverse workforce.
That evening, Abbott participated in a Texas-India business roundtable hosted by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). He highlighted ways to build more robust economic partnerships between Texas and India. The roundtable featured CII members, women business leaders, and other Mumbai business organizations. Abbott mentioned his desire to partner with India as it aims to become the world’s second largest economy.
