Tokyo-based Mitsubishi Electric Corporation announced an investment of approximately $30 million, in its subsidiary Mitsubishi Electric India Pvt. Ltd., to establish a new factory in India.
This facility will be located in Pune, Maharashtra, and will manufacture inverters and factory automation (FA) control system products. Operations are expected to start in December 2023.
“The rapidly growing Indian market is expanding at an annual rate of about 8 per cent mainly in industries such as automobiles, food & beverage, pharmaceuticals, data centers, and textiles, with further market expansion expected in the future,” the company said.

Mitsubishi Electric started its FA control systems business in India in the mid-1990s. In 2012, it acquired one of its FA distribution partners in India, the Pune-based Messung Group. It strengthened its business in India by building a local engineering team and expanding service and support capabilities. The company started manufacturing in India in 2013.
In India, its business includes development, manufacture, sales, and after-sales service of FA control system products; sales and after-sales services for air conditioners and semiconductors; and manufacture, sales, and after-sales service of electrical products for railways. In the fiscal ending March 2022 Mitsubishi recorded global revenue of over $36 billion.
