On Jan 31, 2018, Steven J. Shifman, president and CEO of Cincinnati, Ohio-based Michelman Inc., along with the Edgard D. Kagan, U.S. consul general in Mumbai inaugurated the Michelman Innovation Center for Coatings in Mumbai.
Here, the Michelman team will work closely with flexible packaging converters, film manufacturers and brand owners to develop laminate structures; tweak formulations for customer-specific requirements; run trials and test packaging performance; and commercialize new packaging.
Speaking at the occasion, Shifman, said, “India is a vibrant flexible packaging market. India is entrepreneurial, energetic and there’s a lot of desire for change. The government is interested in taking waste out of the packaging stream, promoting less toxic materials and more environmentally friendly materials and that’s what Michelman is all about. So, India is a very important place for us to be.”
