Currently, Danish toy maker Lego follows a distributor-led business model in India, and Amit Kararia, senior regional sales manager, South Asia, at Lego says, “Our business has been growing at high double digits.”
Seeking to double its business in India over the next three years, Lego plans to inaugurate single-brand retail stores in the country. Lego’s Taj Mahal made of 6,000 blocks and priced at approximately $750, will be relaunched in India.
Next on the list is a $1,000 Bugatti Chiron, with 3,500 pieces, co-designed by the iconic French car maker. Fourteen other models including the Statue of Liberty and the Great Wall of China will follow.
Lego aims to tap adults in India. “We don’t yet have an Adult Fans of Lego chapter here [in India].” Kararia added.
