Los Angeles-based Legend 3D is the latest U.S. film services company to mark its presence in the Asia Pacific region by launching a 40,000-square-foot facility in the western Indian city of Pune, about 73 miles from film capital Mumbai. Legend India is located in the 10-acre Suzlon One Earth campus and will be connected via a secure digital pipeline with Legend’s L.A. and Toronto facilities.
Legend offers stereoscopic 3D conversion, VFX, Virtual Reality and animation services. “This strategic decision was enacted to provide Legend’s clients with an experienced expanded global team to provide the quality, economic benefit and skill set required to execute digital imaging at the highest possible level,” Legend CEO Aidan Foley said.
The move to India follows Legend 3D’s recent legal victory against VFX major Prime Focus based in India. In September, the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board invalidated a number of Prime Focus’ patent claims to 3D conversion technology in a case brought by Legend 3D.
