New Delhi-based Veqta, India’s streaming video service, and the country’s first over-the-top service focused on sports content, inked a partnership with Major League Baseball.
Per the deal, Veqta will stream over 20 live MLB games each week during the regular season, along with full coverage of the league’s major events, including the All-Star Game, Wild Card Games, Division Series, League Championship Series and the World Series says The Hollywood Reporter.
Co-founded by Varun Mathur and Vikram Tanwar in April 2015, Veqta raised $500,000 in seed capital in May 2016. “We are thrilled to have Major League Baseball, one of the biggest names in the world of sport, partner with us,” said director Vikram Tanwar. “Baseball has a niche audience here [in India] and we wish to grow it further,” he added.
