Prolgae Spirulina Supplies a Tamil Nadu, India-based Nordic-Indian joint venture supplies sun-dried spirulina microalgae nibs and powder as ingredients to food and nutraceutical markets in Europe and the U.S. The blue-green algae became famous after it was used by NASA as a dietary supplement for astronauts on space missions.
To combat malnutrition, CEO Aakas Sadasivam has initiated R&D efforts to manufacture algae-based products such as chocolates and cookies using spirulina, chia and flax seeds and Indian millets. Additionally he has plans to introduce spirulina tea, coffee, and yogurt. He aims to sell phycocyanin 10mg tablets which provide antioxidants, on the company’s Webshop.
Prolgae has already received a second round of funding from a Slovakian investor, and is seeking further investors to bring its new finished food products to Europe and the U.S.
