Noida, India-headquartered auto ancillary company, Motherson Sumi Systems will pay over $14 million to acquire Bombardier Transportation (Rolling Stock) U.K. Limited’s assets for producing and installing electrical components and systems for the rail industry. The deal also includes acquisition of Bombardier assets to manufacture wiring harnesses, panel and cabinet build, and electro-mechanical assemblies in Derby, U.K.
Motherson Sumi will lease Bombardier’s Derby site and retain existing staff for operations. The transaction includes transfer of assets, employee and inventories, on a debt-free and cash-free basis. This is Motherson Sumi’s first acquisition for 2019 and will be completed by next quarter.

Motherson Sumi routed this deal through Finland-based PKC Group, which it acquired in March 2017, and through it, is engaged with the manufacturing of wiring harnesses for rolling stock, mainly in Europe and North America
Motherson Sumi is the flagship company of the $11.5 billion Samvardhana Motherson Group. Sumitomo Wiring Systems, Japan, holds a minority stake in the company. The company has a presence in 41 countries, and expects to achieve revenues of $18 billion by fiscal year 2020.
