Indian Scientists Develop New Tool to Detect Cancer

Indian scientists at the Singapore-based molecular diagnostic Tzar Labs and the Mumbai-based Epigeneres Biotechnology have developed a new method to detect cancer. The test, known as HrC, can categorize solid tumors, hematological malignancies, and sarcomas at the stage they’re at. Both labs are led by nanotech scientist Vinay Kumar Tripathi and his family.

A simple blood test followed by molecular analysis found that the peripheral blood of patients with cancer revealed a large number of Very Small Embryonic-Like Stem Cells (VSELs ) compared to those without the disease. The scientists also found a transcription factor called Oct4a within the cells whose fluctuation varied according to the cancer stage in the patient.

Tzar Labs founder and CEO Ashish Tripathi said, “We can detect cancer earlier than known technologies, when the disease is infinitely more treatable.” The company has filed for patents in the U.S., Europe, Japan, China, and Singapore.
