India generated 47.64 BU, of solar power in the first half (1H) of the calendar year 2022, an increase of 34% compared to the same period last year. The Indian States of Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Karnataka were the top three states for solar production for the period.
In Q2 of 2022, the country generated 25.41 BU of solar power, a 14% QoQ increase compared to 22.22BU generated in Q1 2022. In the same time frame, India installed over 3GW of solar capacity, a YoY increase of 50%.
According to data from the Central Electricity Authority, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, and Mercom’s India Solar Project Tracker, the country has installed 160 GW renewable energy capacity including large hydro projects.
