Google, Verily Launch Screening for Diabetic Retinopathy in India

Google, and its affiliate, South San Francisco-based Verily (subsidiary of Google parent Alphabet), have been conducting a global clinical research program with a focus on India to screen for two conditions that impact millions of people worldwide: diabetic retinopathy and diabetic macular edema.

The studies involved Aravind Eye Hospital at Madurai, and Chennai-based Sankara Nethralaya, both located in India’s southern state of Tamil Nadu.
