Google announced the appointment of Sanjay Gupta as the new country manager and vice president of sales and operations for its India business. “I am happy to join the passionate teams across Google and look forward to contributing to India’s digital journey as it becomes an innovation hub for the world,” said Gupta.
Google is increasingly focused on India and other Asian markets to develop products and services that solve local problems and address barriers that are hindering growth in these markets.
Scott Beaumont, president of Google APAC, said the company’s operation in India “is important and strategic for its own sake but also for the innovation which then feeds breakthroughs elsewhere in Google.”
