Gogo Inc., Launches Tech Center in India

Chicago, Illinois-based inflight connectivity provider Gogo Inc., launched an engineering and software development center in the southern city of Chennai, in India. It will provide its services to various airlines in the country following the recommendations of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India to allow both telephony and Internet services on inter-city flights.

This facility will be Gogo’s biggest technology center outside its headquarters in Chicago, said Anand Chari, executive vice-president and chief technology 0fficer. Access to a good talent pool and proximity to the company’s growing customer base in Asia Pacific and the EMEA region, made Chennai an ideal location to set up the center, he added.

Delta Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Virgin Australia and Japan Airlines use Gogo’s services. “India is our next major destination. It is one of the fastest growing sectors in the aviation industry,” Chari noted.
