Israel-headquartered Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd., secured a multi-million dollar contract from Navi Mumbai-based Nelco, a part of the $116 Bn Tata group.
Gilat develops technology for satellite, ground, and “new space” connectivity, offering next-generation solutions and services for critical connectivity across commercial and defense applications.
Nelco Limited holds the VSAT License, Internet Service Provider (ISP) License as well as the Inflight & Maritime Communication (IFMC) license issued by Department of Telecommunication, Government of India (DOT) The company is focused on helping its enterprise & government customers by offering solutions in the areas of VSAT connectivity, Satcom Projects, maintenance of private hubs and hybrid networks, and Integrated Security & Surveillance Solutions.
Under the agreement, Gilat will provide its SkyEdge IV hub platform to support Nelco’s new Ka-band service network using the GSAT-N2 high-throughput satellite (HTS).

Deliveries for the project are scheduled to take place over the next 12 months.

The deployment focuses on providing high-capacity connectivity across several key Indian market segments, including:
Aero IFC: In-flight connectivity for the aviation industry.
Cellular Backhaul: Supporting mobile network expansion into rural areas.
Enterprise Connectivity: Reliable data services for businesses in remote locations.
The SkyEdge IV system is a multi-orbit satellite ground platform designed for high broadband capacity. It allows operators to manage high-throughput services with increased operational efficiency and agility.
