According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney India has launched its live entertainment unit with a local musical adaptation of Beauty and the Beast. The English-language production comes as Disney is re-booting its Beauty and the Beast franchise with a new, live-action version of the story, starring Emma Watson and Dan Stevens.
Based on the Academy Award-winning animated feature film, this classic musical love story will be presented to Indian audiences on the same scale as the mega-productions seen on New York’s Broadway and on London’s West End. Over 100 musical theater performers in India will bring the story of Beauty and the Beast alive on stage, with lavish sets and gorgeous costumes.
Directed by Disney India’s Live Entertainment head Vikranth Pawar, and featuring choreographer Terence Lewis, and music producer Leslie Lewis – both well-known Bollywood personalities – the Indian production will play in Mumbai and Delhi between October and December this year
