San Jose, CA-headquartered Cisco Systems will begin manufacturing from India to diversify its global supply chain.
The factory is expected to be operational in 12 months and will generate $1 billion in total revenue including exports, said Cisco Chairman and Chief Executive Chuck Robbins.

Cisco is building core manufacturing capabilities in India, including testing, deployment, and logistics, and expanding its in-house repair operations.
“We are announcing strategic investments in Indian manufacturing capabilities as the next step in delivering cutting-edge technologies to our customers in India and across the globe,” Robbins said in a press conference in New Delhi. “India is a focal point of innovation and business for Cisco, and we remain deeply committed to our partnerships here.”
India’s R&D capabilities, manufacturing potential, and local market opportunities is creating an attractive value proposition for global multinational corporations to invest in the region. The country is already Cisco’s second-largest R&D center outside its home market in the U.S.
Robins added, “India has seen 5G deployments at a pace that we haven’t seen anywhere else in the world. And it really has created an amazing environment for investments. India is already becoming a hub for mobile phone manufacturing and the success of Cisco manufacturing could help in making India a hub for telecom equipment manufacturing.”
