Soon after after inaugurating the first fish feed plant in Vijayawada, Minnesota-based Cargill launched a Technology Application Center in Kaikaluru; both facilities are in India’s southern state of Andhra Pradesh.
The Technology Application Center is designed to help farmers access innovations and apply the best possible solutions to grow healthy seafood and earn higher profits. The Center hosts twenty fish and shrimp ponds. It also features a training facility and research station that supports innovation in aquaculture feed development.
“India is an important and fast-growing aquaculture market. This Center will enable us to increase our support for India’s aquaculture industry,” said Chad Gauger, managing director of Cargill’s aquaculture nutrition business in South Asia. The company plans to open other such centers in Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia and India by mid 2018.
