Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird will visit India in September to strengthen bilateral economic ties between the two countries. During the visit, Baird will review the current status of bilateral negotiations underway, such as the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and the implementation of the Nuclear Cooperation Agreement.
Preparations were also underway for Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s second visit to India, perhaps later in the year.
“India has identified education, innovation, renewable energy, clean technologies, energy efficiency, mining, infrastructure, and agriculture as priority areas of cooperation,” Preeti Saran, Consul General of India in Toronto, said. “Canada has great strengths in these areas. We can work together to mutual benefit.”
