Canada’s Brookfield Asset Management will acquire two wind farms from Hyderabad, India-based Axis Energy Ventures for $75 million The deal will be Brookfield’s first direct acquisition in the renewable energy space in India.
In 2017, Brookfield acquired Missouri- and California-based SunEdison’s TerraForm Global Inc, a 300-megawatt portfolio in India as part of a larger global deal. The addition of Axis Energy’s two wind farms totaling 210 MW will take Brookfield’s total renewable portfolio in the country to 510 MW.
Axis Energy Ventures India is the flagship company of Axis Energy Group and is engaged in the development of renewable and clean energy projects. It has committed to developing 12,500 MW of renewable energy projects by 2022, including 6,500 MW of projects in India’s southern state of Andhra Pradesh.
